Though I do not think it will make much difference... there is an update for CV5.0 available...

" http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=471497&prodNameId=1833644&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-39830-1 "

What is the error you are getting?
Hi Thanks for your help

There is 16 Disks (72GB) on the EVA,the error is on the command view when trying to initialize the EVA, it starts and after few minutes gives initialization failed ,then the EVA will have a name like sys18062006 (not the name that i mentioned on the pane while initilaizing it )and always we have on red the notice that the EVA is not initialized ,on the OCP we have the new name sys18062006. After this i tried to initialize it agian but i cant ,i get an error that the controller are already on a storage and can not querry disks . The only way to gain access again is to uninitailize it From the OCP then command view can access the EVA and i can verify that all is ok as the first time u run command view with new EVA ,so i tried another initialization and we have the same error and senario .
NB: I installed Command view on another server and same result .
I tried direct and cross connection between FP1 ,FP2 and host switchs and same results while initializing it .
I already downlowded the patch for the commande view 5.0 will try to install it .

Thank you in advance

Hi,

Are you using Qlogic HBA's in the server running Command View EVA?

I've seen this before. You need to run the Qlogic SAN surfer software and configure the HBA's.

Once you've done that it should be ok.

Thanks,

Geoff

Have you tried HP Support? Being you have an EVA, it is likely you have a support agreement as well.

It does not sound like you have anything wrong with your hba's. I never have to "configure" the HBA's before initializing an EVA and I do 1 or 2 a month, sometimes more.

Are you running command View directly on the server? or from a remote server?

What else is on the server that is running Command View?

Steven
