Hi Brian,

I am more specific to SMA, HP has recommended patch list to update on SMA Station. Ask HP's account support manager for it. It eliminates the components which are not installed on SMA and also goes with the recommendations.

Now coming to your scenario, it is most important to keep your CV station safe from virus and hackings, so you *must* update the system patches/servicepacks regularly. I am sure no one will stop you from doing that, only a word of caution is that "avoid too latest patches/updates".

hope this helps

What's the general feeling for applying Windows Updates to the command view box? We really want to, but have always been told not to.

Thanks.

There used to be a regularly updated list of approved patches for the Storage Management Appliance (SMA) series of systems.
Since Command View EVA is now installable on any approved host running Microsoft Windows (and the SMAs reached end-of-life), simply use the OS update procedures.
There was a paper released from HP (customer advisory) some time ago detailing the process of converting an SMA II or SMA III into a general-purpose Windows host running Command View EVA. With a few exceptions, most IIs and IIIs could be converted.
