Brocade Switch Firmware problem

We have performed a firmware upgrade, on HP's advice, to on of our fibre switches of the following type:
HP Storageworks SANSwitch 4/32 (Brocade)
to version 5.3.0
During the upgrade/download process which we carried out via the console on a telnet session, we had a timeout, after reconnecting and trying the upgrade again we had an option to either commit the existing firmware or restore the original. We decided to restore with the command 'firmwarerestore', which completed succesfully.
We then tried the upgrade again, we were able to login to the console but when performing the upgrade command were met with the following error on the console:

\bin\wget is not available
Check installation of wget package

If we tried to open the web gui of the fibre switch, again we were able to login but when the Java GUI loaded we were faced with the error in the attachment.

We have assumed that the firmware is now corrupt or at least there are files missing from it, what we need to know is how to repair this, can anyone help?

I am 99% sure that the firmware image is corrupt. An option is to get a "very" old firmware and try installing it. You may try several firmwares:

4.2.x
4.4.x
5.0.x
5.2.x

and please don't forget to pray... :)

Gwyndaff,

Try clearing your Browser and Java JAR caches before launching the GUI again. I've seen problems in the past where the cached version of the jar files were being used after an upgrade.

When you are doing the firmwaredownload, you can monitor it with the firmwaredownloadstatus command. This would be useful if you get disconnected while the download is running.

You didn't indicate the firmware version you currently have on your switch. If you are on a version before 5.1.x, you won't be able to upgrade directly to 5.3.x. Brocade typically only supports upgrading from upto 2 revisions back.

I would try logging as root and copy the wget command from another switch if available (and possible).
