    <description>i have to replace a failed disk in the san.&lt;BR /&gt;what are the steps to perform ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;the failed disk is not in any volume group.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i have to add the new one to the existing volume group.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks in advance</description>

      <description>This question is far far away from being clear!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SAN is a network - disks are usually in an array or JBOD.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Some arrays have special procedures regarding disk replacements.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Nobody can advise you anything other than "read the appropriate documentation" based on the information you provided - sorry.</description>

      <description>Then is not just a JBOD, the MSA1000 has RAID controllers and presents logical units not disks to the hosts. If the disk is part of a RAID you just have to replace it, the MSA1000 controllers will rebuild the RAID. The OS will not notice anything.</description>

      <description>... unless it is a RAID 0!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In this case you need to restore the data from your backup!</description>
