Hello guys,
i have the following problem; i have 2 different sites A and B having each several servers connected to different VA7410 through fibre switches. i'm trying to connect these 2 sites to each others cause we want that servers in site A could see the VA in site B and vice versa. When connecting switches the servers do not see the VAs no more, the armdiscover could no more detect any VA even in the same site ( servers in site A could no more see VA in site A or B, and vice versa )
Please advise..
Francois

Francois,
most possibly you have zoning enabled on both switches (or on one of two switches) and switches are having problems syncronizing zoning between them. You should build one SAME for both switches zoning table, download it to BOTH switches, enable them and only THEN you can connect switches with ISL.
If you do errshow at switches you may see 'fabric segmented' events logged. This events is about switches are not able to sync their zoning
Eugeny

It sounds like you have the Domain numbers all set to the same number... very common when the switches are not ISL'ed to other switches.

Check the Domain number for each of the switches - they should all be different.

Good luck,

Vince

I need to cut power abnormally to reset them. I doubted the loop ID on the controllers. Could anybody help..!!
thank u

Do you have Proliant servers in the SAN? With KGPSA or emulex FC cards? If yes, then please post here regisrty from hkey-local-machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\...\Parameters\Device
where ... is 'CPQKGPSA' for CPQ driver or 'lp..' for emulex. Needed variable is 'DriverParameter'
Eugeny

Hi Eugeny,
the servers in the site are proliant servers with emulex LP950 FC cards. remark there is a tape library compaq msl5060 connected on one switch in site B. now the status is the following. i disconnected the switches between sites connections. each site rediscovered its VA. but in site B having the tape library, i still have problems with fiber so i put the tape library on one switch and the one va controller on the other and disconnect the 2nd controller so it worked. But when reconnecting the 2nd va controller to the same switch with tape library or when re-connecting between sites switches the problem re-occurs. the VAs disappears and couldn't be discovered.
Thanks

Try the following:
1. upgrade VAs firmwares to A100;
2. upgrade card drivers. Please note that if you have compaq FCA cards (not native emulex) then CPQ driver called CPQKGPSA should be installed;
3. Try playing with driver settings (in registry) like ResetTPRLO set to 2, EmulexOption set to 0x3A00.
Good luck!
Eugeny

To upgrade to A100 you need to call HP. Only HP CE or other certified person is allowed to do it.
Please upgrade your drivers to 4.82a14 (available from HP site, use CPQKGPSA for CPQ emulex cards), then check that there're no spaces in the registy parameters string, and then modify:
ResetTRLO=2
EmulexOption=0xBA00
Eugeny
