Forgot the admin password in Brocade SAN Switch..

Hi,

I have forgotten the password of all admin (All root/ factory/ switchadmin and admin ) users of a SAN switch ( Brocade ). Only the user login is working..... How can I reset the password.

You cannot reset the password on your own. If the FOS is less than 4.1 it will require a special f/w which only an HP engineer can get. If it is more than 4.1 there is special procedure which as well an HP engineer knows and can do..

Bottom line is 'log a case with HP for this'.

Starting in v5.2.0, you can push the password database from another switch in the fabric. The "distribute -p PWD -d " command will replace the password database

If the switch is running an older version for Fabric OS, you will need to use one of the other recovery procedures.

You can reset the root password if you know the boot password.
You should see:

Press escape within 4 seconds to enter boot interface.

1) Start system.
2) Recover password.
3) Enter command shell.

Option? 3

can i have the document for resetting the password please?

I will try the other method of copying the Database from another switch once i have found out which OS we are running on the switch.

I would really appreciate it if you could email me the instructions to recover the root password , from Boot ,I am having the same problem...I have this HP 4/16 (brocade 240E)switch with no known passwords,please help
