Hello,
We recently added several enclosures to our EVA5000. They are on a different rack and I've cabled everything the way it should be.
HP Field Service came out and stated that everything looked good.
However, about once every two weeks since adding the additional enclosures, I get the following error:
An enclosure was found on Fibre Channel, but not on the CAB bus

I am using the additional enclosures and drives with no problems. The EMU shows no errors either.
What I've been doing with Hp support is replacing one "cab" cable at a time.

Any ideas??

Hi Benito,

this sounds really like a problem with cab bus. Hmm, maybe the message includes the enclosure ID?
The most likely problem is IMHO the cable between the enclosure and the bus or even the bus cable itself. But also the EMU (connector) may be related.

Hello,
Thanks for your replies.
The entire error message::

Failure diagnosis Needed: LIB_EVA: An enclosure was found on Fibre Channel, but not on the CAB bus DP-1A

Does it make sense?

Benito

Or upload here the compressed EVA event log, so we can check from what enclosure(s) those event come. If you have replaced the EAB cables, it could be a failing EMU.

To my knowledge an HSV200 controller is an EVA 6000. This is limited to maximum of 8 shelves.

An EVA5000 is an HSV110, and can have up to 18 shelves.

Regards,

Louis

Hi,

Loop Switch: No Loop Switch has been detected at this time

Bases on the above it is not even EVA6000 it will be EVA4000, in such case it is only supported 4 Enclosures.

What is the enclosure ID showing on the EMU Module? Try to reseat the EMU and check if it is in the supported configuation.

In case of EVA 5000, the Enclosure IDs should between 1-6, 8-13, 15-20. and you have to use the CAB Bus expander cable (Similar like RJ45 cable: one end will marked as P1 and other P2) this cable P1 should be connected to Rack 1 Bottom port(by removing the Bottom Terminator on the port) and P2 will be connected to Rack 2 Shelf ID expander cable port(this will start the EMU numbers from 15 onwards).

Siva
