We want to use the same Command View management server to manage a EVA5000 and an EVA4100.
I understand that there are different versions of CVE recommended for each EVA model.
Is there a CVE version that is compatible with both EVA's?

Generally speaking, newer versions of Command View are compatible with older VCS/XCS.

Unless your firmware is WAY out of date, you could/should probably run the latest Command View which will allow for management of both EVA's.

Steven

Rob is right.
There are no specific CV-EVA versions for different EVA models. It does not even make sense - for example, I have used CV-EVA to do a data migration from EVA-3000/VCX3.110 to EVA-4400/XCS 09.00.40.00 using Continuous Access. That would not have been possible without being able to talk to both EVAs at the same time.

Hi Uwe,

We are planning to migrate from eva 5k/vcs 3.028 to EVA 4400 (probably with latest xcs). Could u provide a guideline for this operation? There are only HPUX system (11iv1 & 11iv2) connected to eva 5k and SecurePath (active/passive) on all. We also have a MCSG cluster conected. Can we use a limited version of CA to do this?

Thanks.
VCS 3028 is out of support, you should update it to 3110 before attemting anything.
Then, check compatibility matrix:
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01631841/c01631841.pdf

Command View 8.02 is compatible with all firmware versions, and it installs a 60 days license that lets you use Continous Access to migrate data from one EVA to the other.

You need firmware 09003000 at least on the EVA4400, then you can configure synchronous replication from the EVA5000 to the EVA4400.

HP-UX 11.23 uses Secure Path 3.0F SP3, 11.31 uses Native multipathing
