topic Virtual Replicator 3.0b RPC Server Unavailable creating a new pool?...Help... in HPE EVA Storage

I installed VR3.0b with Service Pack 1 on a Windows 2000 Advanced server (with clustering-MSCS) with Service Pack 3 and numerous MS patches, including the ones mentioned in the advisories by HP. But, I am installing VR initially after these patches were already installed.

I am trying to create a new Pool and I go all the way through the wizard and it comes up with this error at the end of trying to create the pool.

Failed to create new pool. Vitrtual replicator services could not create the new pool due to the following error: The RPC server is unavailable.

Now I saw the two advisories on this issue, but, like I said I am installing VR for the first time after these patches are already installed and the advisories talk about installing the patches after VR is already installed.

I even tried the command line tool and it came up with the same error.

Any ideas??????? Please.....

I can't believe that no one has used VR. Oh well, I guess I will have to turn to another resource/product.

Well, one other person is using this - me! I run into the same problem. This a new install on Windows 2003. Did you ever figure this out? I had this working once, re-installed the product on a new cluster, did nothing different (famous last words) now I can't get around this.

No, I have never figured it out. I am still needing to get it going. I thought about calling HP support but, I hate to do that because they will tell me to upgrade or something. Although I heard form another resource that upgrading won't fix my problem. I just don't have an answer as to what the fix is.

I am in the same boat. I had it working and now it is not after I reinstalled. Sounds like we have the same issue.

If you find a solution please let me know. And I will do the same.
