      <description>IOPS is short for Input/Output Operations (=reads/writes) per second.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You cannot really calculate it, because the number depends on a lot of factors, e.g.&lt;BR /&gt;- the size of the transfer&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;- the relative locality of the I/O requests&lt;BR /&gt;-- a low locality means high seek distances for the read/write heads which requires time not available to transfer data&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If a device can do many I/Os (because it rotates faster than another one or is smaller and thus as smaller move distances) it gets the job done more quickly. The faster you work - the more money you can make (often ;-).</description>
