sorry for the typo .. *connect one port in one switch(contA-port0 to one switch and contB-port0 to another switch in the same fabric) and same for the other fabric too

MSA 2312fc Point to Point or LOOP?

Hi,

We have just purchased 2 x 2312fc Arrays with dual controllers and an extra msa2000 attached to each.

They are going to be connected to 4 fabric switches split across 2 rooms.

The 4 fabric switches have 2 zones. Switch 1 and 3 are Fabric Zone 1 and Switch 2 and 4 are Fabric Zone 2.

What is the best way to connect them? Point to Point or LOOP?

I want to make the connections fully redundant.

Thanks

Our fabric switch setup is:

Switch 1 and 2 are in one data centre and 3 and 4 are in another.

Switch 1 and switch 3 make up Fabric Zone 1 and switch 2 and switch 4 make up Fabric Zone 2.

I have connected the MSA2312fc as follows:

First Room:

Port A1 = Switch 1 (Fabric 1)
Port A2 = Switch 2 (Fabric 2)

Port B1 = Switch 2 (Fabric 2)
Port B2 = Switch 1 (Fabric 1)

Second Room:

Port A1 = Switch 3 (Fabric 1)
Port A2 = Switch 4 (Fabric 2)

Port B1 = Switch 4 (Fabric 2)
Port B2 = Switch 3 (Fabric 1)

The Servers that will be connecting using the storage from the MSA's all have dual HBA cards installed and are connected evenly over both switches whatever room they reside.

As per the best practice PtP cabling

Connect First port of both controllers in fabric A switch (Primary Path)
Connect Second port of both controllers in Fabric B switch (Secondary path)

If Fabric A and B have two switches then connect one port in each switch in the fabric.
