    <description>it does not need to authenticate, the server is on the allowed list and i can send emails using telnet.  in the eva options you can select to use authentication or not.  we dont so icant see it been that.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have checked the smtp logs and nothing..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am trying to setup an email alert on an va 4400. I have entered a smtp server, the firewall rule is configured.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;email notification is enabled and notify on:.... is switch on for disk group alarms and hardware condition changes is enabled.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I change the alarm setting to generate an email and nothing comes through. I have tested using telenet and i can connect to the smtp server and i receive a test email ehen sending using telnet.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Am i missing anything?&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>How do you specify the 'sender' address?&lt;BR /&gt;Some of HPs kit REALLY doesn't like the '@' and anything after it.&lt;BR /&gt;So, instead of 'va4400@company.com', try just 'va4400'&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;thanks for the reply but if you try entering anything other than name@domain.com.au is wont let you save.  a message appears saying the address is invalid&lt;BR /&gt;thanks</description>
