email notifications

Hi,

I am trying to setup an email alert on an va 4400. I have entered a smtp server, the firewall rule is configured.

email notification is enabled and notify on:.... is switch on for disk group alarms and hardware condition changes is enabled.

I change the alarm setting to generate an email and nothing comes through. I have tested using telenet and i can connect to the smtp server and i receive a test email ehen sending using telnet.

Am i missing anything?

How do you specify the 'sender' address?
Some of HPs kit REALLY doesn't like the '@' and anything after it.
So, instead of 'va4400@company.com', try just 'va4400'

thanks for the reply but if you try entering anything other than name@domain.com.au is wont let you save. a message appears saying the address is invalid

Then it may be an authentication issue?

There's nothing in the logs on the server?

it does not need to authenticate, the server is on the allowed list and i can send emails using telnet. in the eva options you can select to use authentication or not. we dont so icant see it been that.

I have checked the smtp logs and nothing..
