We had a Power failure yesterday and I have a message "The current array controller has valid data stored in its memory. The data will be written to the drives once the controller becomes idle. "

The data that would be stored would be old by now and the system read/write performance is noticable slow

Any Ideas

Joe,

You should have an error 71 and or 72 on your LCD panel. When you booted up the MSA, you would most likely had the error 72 which required user input either yes or no. No would not flush the cache and halt the controller w/ error 71, Yes to 72 would flush cache. If now you just show error 71 on LCD, that means you chose no on 72.

Reboot the MSA and hopefully you get error 72 again, choose yes to clear the cache memory.

Ciao,
Greg
Did not get an Error on boot up that required any input. Is there any other way to clear the cache with out a reboot of the MSA?
Joe

Are the arrays still initialized?
Under ACU, check to see if the arrays have a red bang.

If they are initialized, then the cache should have been flushed.

You could disable cache to those particular LUNs either through ACU -> Array acceleration or CLI -> call out the particular LUN #set unit ? cache=disable. It accomplishes the same as ACU.

Viola
changed the cache from 50 read 50 write to 40 read 60 write, this cleard the warning.
then rebooted all components of MSA and everthing is good again!

That would work also,

Usually any controller configuration changes result in the cache being temporary disabled. The temporary cache disabling allows writes straight to drives.
