Secure Path Failed Path

We're running HPUX 11.11 with Secure Path 3.0F into an EVA5000 with VCS 3.025. Today we had a switch fail on us, and all servers failed over properly.

The problem is that now that we have replaced the switch, spmgr still shows one side as failed. I have checked the zoning, and it appears good. What most perplexing is that the Windows and Linux servers on the fabric picked up the failed path OK.

On one server I rebooted, and now secure path shows proper dual ports.

So my question, how do I get Secure Path to pick up that the path through the failed port is now OK (without rebooting the server).

What does 'spmgr display' show you? Have you tried 'spmgr restore' on the path(s) in question?

Yes, I had tried performing an spmgr restore all.

OK, I figured it out. Because we have multiple SAN switches on each fabric, I bypassed the failed switch and connected the controllers and critical servers into spare ports of other switches. Apparently for HPUX this changes the path of the device since the hops on the SAN network are different.

I performed an ioscan, and spmgr display showed dual pathing, but with a different device set. It still showed the old failed path, which I guess will become available again when we put in the replacement switch tomorrow and put all the ports back to their original configuration.

Mike,

The device file has changed because you changed the switch (another WWN)

The old Luns will be removed the first time you reboot this server
