Hello I have a big problem.
I have buy a msa 1000 with two controller and two san switch 2/8 and I attach to it 6 dl 380 server.
All works also the redundancy with secure path works great. Now I have finished my hard disk space and I want to attach in cascade another MSA1000.
I want to know if it's possibile to cascade two MSA1000 and if it's possible to use redundand configuration.
It's possible to configure the second MSA1000 from the first MSA1000,or the configuration of msa1000 must be made locally on each MSA1000?
Thank you.

The switches are the MSA embedded, correct?

You can cascade the MSA. Be warned that if you power cycle the MSA with the embedded switches. It will power cycle the embedded switches and you will lose connectivity to the other MSA. Until the switches finish POST.

So, Always gracefully power down your servers before powering down your storage.

ACU will see all attached MSAs no matter wher you connect them!ACU communicates FC inband from the HBA - switch - MSA controller

Cheers
Peter

My configuration is like this:
6 dl380 with 2 fc adapter each server with secure path
2 msa1000 configurated for redundancy( 2 controllers for each MSA1000 and 2 san switch 2/8 embedded for each MSA1000)
I have plugged each server into controllers of the first MSA1000,from port 1 to port 6, and i have installed secure path on servers and all works great.
Now I finished the hard disk space and I have buy a second MSA1000.
Now if try to view the second MSA1000 with acu I see only the first MSA1000 but no the second.
I have connected the second MSA1000 using san switch port 7 and configuring it as e port.
But I cannot see ther second MSA1000.
Any idea?
It's possible to configure the second MSA1000 from the first MSA1000,or the configuration of MSA1000 must be made locally on each MSA1000 wtih the cli?
Thanks

There are 2 most probable reasons:

1. Domain ID
The two switches need to have unique Domain IDs. Is this OK?

2. Zoning
Did you include the new MSA into the server zones?

Cheers
Peter
