A few potential obvious points:
- you are installing it on the command view server
- you do have the correct version of Java
- your user ID has the correct security settings.

Aside from that, I had recently installed RSM 4.0 and could not get the configuration to update until I actually imported the configuration from my current 3.0 RSM server. Somehow, HP support thought that solved the problem...for them, at least.

Did not notice your errors, though.

G'Day Group,
After sucessfully installing HP Storageworks Replication Solution Manager 4.0 , I enter the software to configure it. The software seems to run very slow and at times unresponsive. I go to 'Configure' and take about 1min to open. At the configure screen I click on 'Logs' and get the error message under the Log Settings window stating;

"LogConfigurationModel refresh; nested exception is:
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Could not obtain connection to any of these urls: localhost:1099 and discovery failed with error: javax.naming.CommunicationException: Receive timed out [Root exception is java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Receive timed out] [Root exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1099 [Root exception is javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1099 [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]]

I select the Licensing Tab and I get the following error:

Could not obtain connection to any of these urls: localhost:1099 and discovery failed with error: javax.naming.CommunicationException: Receive timed out [Root exception is java.net.SocketTimeOutExcemption: Received timed out]

I have tried to upgrade it to HP Storageworks Replication Solution Manager 4.0.1 as well with no sucess. Has anyone encountered this error before? I have logged a job with HP on this and awaiting a reply.

Regards

John Hooper

G'Day Again Group,

I forgot to add, as well as experiencing the above problems, when I execute RSM and log in, in the bottom window in the 'Storage Events' and 'Licnese Events' window it reads "Retrieving Events, Please wait." This never goes sway. On the occasiona when it RSM does work successfully, I have noticed that the events are displayed straight away as soon as I execute and log into RSM.

Cheers

John

GDay, I managed to find and fix the issues I
was having with RSM. It ended up being a conflict with
TrendMicro Control Manager 3.5. Within this software there is a
process 'mrf.exe' that uses port 1099. The same port that RSM
uses. I changed the port that TrendMicro uses and all started
working again.
