Hello,
I have a problem with my new hp san switch 4/32,

When I attach my rp7410 servers to new san switch, they can’t see their disk from san, and the result of ioscan return no_hw for disks,

But they can see their vdisks when attached to old san switch, which vdisks created by old san switch,

Also I created new vdisk for new rp7410 when it is connected to new san switch,
When I disconnected it and connect new rp7410 to old san switch, it still can’t see their disks!

I have two hsv-100 disk controllers with two FC port for each, I attach one FC from one of hsv’s to new san switch,

Is there any config that I must do?

Hi,

> Is there any config that I must do?

Yes. You must configure the zoning on the switch.

The output of the cfgShow command should hopefully help you along...

Cheers,

Rob

Can you describe exactly what's connected to what, and what you're trying to achieve ?

For example, is the new switch replacing the old one, or are you adding it for resilience purposes ?

The switchShow output is only showing two of the four FC ports on the HSV controllers, which may well be the reason for the servers not seeing the vdisks...

Cheers,

Rob

Yes Rob,

Current situation:
I have two switch 2/8 and two hsv controller that each hsv have two fc port, that connect to switches cross form for redundancy (left port of hsv A to one sw and right port of hsv A to another sw), same scenario for hsv B.
And have two rp7410 for PROD and three rp2470 fot DEV.

Now we bought two rp7410 and donâ t have enough port from current switches, so bought one san switch hp 4/32 (with license for 16 ports)

Now I disconnect right fc port of hsv A and connect it to new switch till new switch and two new rp7410 can see SAN by hsv.

But when I disconnect one server from one of old switches, and connect it to new switch, I expect that server can see san but cant.

What I must do?
= = = = =

Thanks Uwe,

I changed domain ID new switch to 2 according to what you say,
But both of my old switches have different domain ID, following:

SW2:admin> switchshow
switchName: SW2
switchType: 16.2
switchState: Online
switchMode: Native
switchRole: Principal
switchDomain: 2
switchId: fffc02
switchWwn: 10:00:00:60:69:c0:a4:84
switchBeacon: OFF
Zoning: ON (new_config)
port 0: id N2 Online F-Port 50:00:1f:e1:50:02:ba:09
port 1: id N2 No_Light
port 2: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:17:04
port 3: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:02:4c
port 4: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:5c:8c
port 5: id N2 No_Light
port 6: id N2 Online F-Port 10:00:00:e0:02:22:a3:34
port 7: id N2 Online F-Port 10:00:00:00:c9:39:a7:06

SW1:admin> switchshow
switchName: SW1
switchType: 16.2
switchState: Online
switchMode: Native
switchRole: Principal
switchDomain: 1
switchId: fffc01
switchWwn: 10:00:00:60:69:c0:ae:74
switchBeacon: OFF
Zoning: ON (zone1)
port 0: id N2 Online F-Port 50:00:1f:e1:50:02:ba:0d
port 1: id N2 Online F-Port 50:00:1f:e1:50:02:ba:08
port 2: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:03:a6
port 3: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:0c:42
port 4: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:5c:90
port 5: id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:24:5c:94
port 6: id N2 No_Light
port 7: id N2 Online F-Port 10:00:00:00:c9:39:a7:05

newsanswitch:admin> switchshow
switchName: newsanswitch
switchType: 58.2
switchState: Online
switchMode: Native
switchRole: Principal
switchDomain: 2
switchId: fffc02
switchWwn: 10:00:00:05:1e:90:40:9f
zoning: ON (config1)
switchBeacon: OFF

Area Port Media Speed State Proto
=====================================
0 0 id N2 Online F-Port 50:00:1f:e1:50:02:ba:0c
1 1 id N2 Online F-Port 50:06:0b:00:00:10:ac:60
2 2 id N4 No_Light
3 3 id N4 No_Light
4 4 id N4 No_Light
5 5 id N4 No_Light
6 6 id N4 No_Light
7 7 id N4 No_Light
8 8 id N4 No_Light
9 9 id N4 No_Light
10 10 id N4 No_Light
11 11 id N4 No_Light
12 12 id N4 No_Light
13 13 id N4 No_Light
14 14 id N4 No_Light
15 15 id N4 No_Light
I suggest that you put the EVA on the same ports of the new switch and give this switch the same domain ID. (make sure you adjust the port-based zoning -- or move to a pure WWN-based zoning)

The other problem that can cause different hardware paths is the "core PID" parameter:

Fabric parameters (yes, y, no, n): [no] y
...
Core Switch PID Format: (0..1) [1]

The old switches started with value "0" and when larger switches were introduced the value "1" became standard. Migrating from 0 to 1 changes the Fibre Channel addresses and cases new hardware paths for HP-UX.

Some newer switches, however, support a value of "2" which is some kind of backward compatibility if you can't move the old switches from 0 to 1 easily.

If your old switches use 0, I recommend you try to set 2 on the new one (switchdisable, configure, ..., switchenable)
