What you heard is correct ;-)

VCS V4.x is active/active firmware, but be careful!

All multipath solutions based on Secure Path (spmgr) and the Windows "basic MPIO" must be replaced by a solution that understands active/active.

Old Secure Path will no longer recognize the EVA-5000 (and the -3000, too), because it changes the SCSI inquiry strings from HSV100/HSV110 to HSV101/HSV111.

Hi,
I have a storage EVA 5000 HSV 110 VCS 3.110
(active / pasive)
I want to connect to a server that is running REL 5.5 with redundant paths. Therefore, I want to run the Device Mapper Multipath.
The question is:
The active / pasive disk array is supported with the Linux Device Mapper Multipath ?
Thanks in advance

From what I have seen in the past, HP does not support access via DM to an active/passive array.

Many years ago I've seen descriptions for the even-older HSG array which is active/passive, too. But it was not on a HP website and I don't recall any more details, sorry.

Hello,
I heard there is a active/active firmware for EVA5000? But not sure... will this help you if exists?

Jan
