      <title>replace damage disk on msa1000</title>

      <description>Hello. we have a msa1000 with 1 spare disk configured. Last night one disk failed, and array rebuild whith spare drive. We want to replace damage disk. If I insert new drive, is this the new spare? How rebuild process take place? whith all drives incluiding spare or spare deactivates ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks a lot</description>

      <description>If you have online spare configured , wait for the array to rebuild before you replace the failed drive.&lt;BR /&gt;Once this is complete the new drive will be the online spare .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rebuild will take place automatically, if you have a online spare.</description>

      <description>Hi Carlos,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In case of MSA1000 once you replace a faulty disk with a new disk then the new disk again becomes as a data disk and the spare disk (which got rebuilded data on it) will be back to its spare position.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Means rebuilding will start one more time.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Example:&lt;BR /&gt;If before the failure the disk in slot 10 was spare disk then after replacing the faulty disk, slot 10 disk will be back to spare only.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BK</description>
