topic P6300 cannot see vSphere 4.1 hosts in HPE EVA Storage

I've zoned numerous Windows hosts to this array and it sees their WWN's just fine, but I've zoned 6 vSphere hosts to the array and when creating a new host in CommandView, the select box says "Port list not available"

I can add the hosts by manually entering the WWNs, but then the host still does not see the presented storage. What is the best way to go about troubleshooting this? Thanks

I'd start by looking at the SAN.
Are they online and properly zoned.
Does fcping work with the P6300?

zoning has been verified by a coworker.

the vsphere hosts are already zoned to another EVA and are definitely online. Any other ideas?

 I'll look into fcping.

Thanks

fcping ...

that rings a bell - does anybody know if this problem is fixed now ?

c01608991 - ADVISORY: HP StorageWorks EVA controllers restart after an FCping is issued from Cisco MDS FC switches

I've run a quick search and it looks like fcping isn't mentioned in ANY EVA document I have.

it turns out the hba's on the vSphere hosts (QLA2340) are not supported on the 6300. I'll replace them and give it another shot.
