running cmd view EVA from a virtual machine?

I am pretty certain cmd view 10.1 can now be run from a virtual machine - though I am not certain exactly what I need to do to make it work.

Do any of you have experience doing this and can offer guidance?

I presume that the esxi host the VM is running on will need to have the HP management bundle installed (though the doc I found did not state this clearly).

I believe it said that SIOC would need to be enabled, or some such - do I need to present a LUN from the EVA to the CMD view virtual machine? How exactly do I do that?

THNX

The P6000 CV install guide has a chapter about running CV in virtual machines.

Remember: make sure CV can run even if the EVA is offline/down!!!

I did not find a "chapter" - rather only a mention in a paragraph. Perhaps I looked at the wrong document. Have you ever done it?

yes, these are the paragraphs that I have seen. Not very precise. What does the following actually mean?

"

When using the VMware guest operating system, two methods are supported:

•

Virtualized SCSI Mode: With this method, only the active path to LUN 0 of a single

controller can be made visible to HP P6000 Command View on the virtual machine.

Virtualized SCSI Mode is enabled by default when you install HP P6000 Command View

9.3 or later."

Somehow I need to present LUN0 to this vm? Why? How?

hmmm - I had not seen that. OK, this gives me a little something to work with. I'll see how far I can get. In just plain english and not referring to a document, can I ask:

Do I need to somehow zone the eva controllers to the vm guest? Or - is the fact that the hosts can see the eva controllers in the fabric sufficient?
