Did you uninstall CV 9.2 before your first try? Or did you just start the new installation of 10.x with 9.2 still installed?

The Command view install stopped responding during my first attempt to install it. After killing the install and rebooting I tried restarting install and got the error below. This is a fresh install on the server and I have manually removed all traces of the failed install of CV as well as anything I could find for SMI-S. Any ideas?

hi, I have the same problem. On EVA4400 I was upgrading CV from 9.2 to 10.3.

I have uninstalled 9.2 first, then try to install 10.3 but this error occured. Also tried restart machine, delete old CV folders, checked installed programs, registries . . nothing relevant in there (regarding SMI-S).

I would like to find out which software also use SMI-S so I can try to uninstall it. So far I din't find any.

Thanks for any help.

Yeah I did I called HP and worked with them on and we were able to resolve. I can't remember the fix for the life of me sorry guys. It was something simple though.

I'll try to dig through some emails.

thanks for reply Torsten, but I did not get in to that install step.

This error ocuured at the start of installation (while installation checking system).

Regarding that error I think that there is another program that is using SMI-S - solution could be find this program (don't know how ) or delete some files/registry..

Sometimes there is CommandView TL or EVA replication manager installed - is it?

You could check

netstat -ao

and search for ports 5988 and 5988.

If you find a PID related to these ports, start taskmgr, enable the PID column for prozesses and check "who" is using the port.

Anything in

C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\SMI-S ?

Hi

problem solved. I downloaded same old version CV 9.2. Installed it (with no problems), restarted mgmt server. Then uninstall it, restarted mgmt server.

After that CV 10.3 was installed flawlessly :)
