In loop whenevr a device/node/host is reset it causes the loop to be reinitialized , thereby failing your running backups . THis is a nornal behaviour of a loop .

The solution is to configure your hosts in fabric mode .

Hi All,

i have three L class servers, 1 netserver LH6000 and 1 DLT 2/20 librabry. All these hosts are connected to EMC FC-4500 storage. All these hosts configure in singel quick loop.

Prob: we frequently reboot the our intel HP netserver. whenever the my backup is running on the dlt library that time if the netserver reboot
same time my backup is terminate.

what configuration i should do so that it wan't effect on my running backup.

Thanx in advance

Hi,
I assume all hosts and storage devices is connecte to a FC-switch. I an not sure why you have configured the ports in (quich)loop mode and not in fabric. I suspect the problem is that the netserver generates a LIP when it reboots and the LIP will cause a SCSI-reset.

The solusion should be too set all ports in fabric mode.

Hi,
You have not mentioned which type of switch you are using but there must be some kind of configuration tool for your switch where you can set the port mode.
