This error usually happens because there is not enough space left for the overhead of virtual replicator's lifeguard service AND for snapshots.

My general rule of thumb is to take the size of the pool, and subtract 30%. That is what's left for you to use for your Vdisks.

You can go into the registry and lower the values or zero them out completely if you know without a doubt that you will not need snapshots for that vdisk. That will allow you to get the full amount of space assigned to the pool.

Hope that helps you out.

Brian

We have a MA8000 setup and use VR to manage pools. I have run into a problem when trying to create a virtual disk of a newly created pool. It errors out at the end with the error message: "Virtual Replicator services could not create the new virtual disk because : The policy on this system prevents this operation". I have no problems creating virtual disk from the 2 other existing pools. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks Brian, I was trying to use the entire pool space for the virtual disk. I started out smaller and it works fine. I do not use snapshots, so I will probably go in and modify the registry.
