Yes, sometimes you can be lucky or you can 'hack' the CV-EVA tree (I once needed to do this to downgrade an EVA's firmware, because the matching CV-EVA kit wasn't available).

But you can run into missing features, missing information, ... It definitely should not be done in a production environment, because it give the support organization a great reason to close your calls.

Short answer: NO

Long answer:
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01631841/c01631841.pdf

VCS 4.1xx needs Command View 7.0.1 at least

Remember that VCS 4.xxx is Active/Active and you need to modify the multipath software on the servers.
Also Command View 7 and 8 need to generate the licenses in a new format

I've checked some EVA compatibility references and all specify CV-EVA V7.0.1 minimum.

I've seen CV 6.0.2 manage an EVA5000 wit hVCS 4.100 before.

The basic functionality is available, but there are some oddities. Definietly should upgrade as soon as possible.

One thing in particular I noticed is that the "Online Disk Code Load" is not available in CV 6.0.2 once you are at VCS 4.100.

Steven
