Hello,

First of all, thank you for taking your time reading this new topic,.

I have a problem with the Storage EVA 4400, I can see that several disks have the messages indicating that the state is "Populated (data disk) and when I try to the the tab Disk Drive, the system cannot show me any information.

There are more than 1 disk with the same issue and it seems that the disk itself is not the problem but the Controller.

The Controller has a Warning on the Device Ports in Loop Pair 1 - DP1B, system says Failed, I think that this would be causing the issue in the drives but I do not know how to resolve it, it is not clear if I have to replace a SFP or the complete Module.

Could someone help me with this issue? I will upload a few screenshots where the Warning appears,

Thank you very much for your help :)

hi Alex,

For one loop connection lost issues, it is important to have a look at the logs to advise further.

Request you to share the logs collected from Command View:

1. Log in to the Command View EVA
2. Select the EVA from the left pane
3. Click on the Server Options at the right top corner
4. Click on the "Capture System Information"
5. Identify the WWN of the EVA and Select the below options
a) Controller Configuration Dump
b) Controller Events
c) Controller Termination Events
6. Click on "Capture selected information" button.

Regards,

Preethi

I work for HPE!
If you feel this was helpful please click the KUDOS! thumb below!

The failure of loop DP1B has caused the failure of disks in enclosure 1,2 and 4 because the disks in the various bays are in same loop,I agree with you for it to be controller issue ,I also see an amber light in IO module B of controller 1.

Following are the steps you can follow :

1. Check Cabling in these enclosures.

2.Replace the SFP in I/O module B.

3. Powercycle the controller ( It will not be disruptive ).

Hello

This issue can be due to a Faulty IO module on B side ,faulty cable , noisy drive or controller itself. In this EVA models, it mostly an IO module issue. So the correct way of approach is to get the Logs collected from EVA for analysis.

Thanks!
Vibeesh V

Hello Alex

From the Logs you shares, i see that the issue started way back in 22nd March and could see that the IO module on Enclosure 6 has disappereared and never reported as baclk online.

1.check the Physical LED status on IO module B on Enclosure 6

2.Reseat the IO module B and check (make sure Loop A is good while doing it)

3.Open a case with HPE and get the IO module repalced

Thanks!

Vibeesh V

Register a Kudo by clicking the thumb if this helped in your issue.
Please consider marking it as an Accepted Solution if issue is resolved

I am thinking that in the controller 1 when it says DP1B is in Failed status is beacuse is not able to reach I/O Module B and not because the DP1B port failed.

Best regards,
