Try adding in the servers again to the profile using 'hostname|clustername' or 'hostname:clustername' can't remember whether it is a colon or that funny character next to the 'Z' key.

I have a 2-node Windows Server 2003/SQL Server 2000 cluster consisting of 2 X DL760 G2s with 2 X HBAs per server (FCA2214DC), an MSA1000 with an additional redundant controller, 2 X MSA SAN Switch 2/8, and 1 X Model 4354R enclosure.

Secure Path Manager Version 4.0C does not recognize the cluster. It depicts the two servers separately with the same controllers and LUNS attached to each of them in the current profile view. Yet, the Secure Path Manager icon legend depicts a cluster, but none is shown in the current profile view. The result is that every time we try to do a database restore from our other 2-node cluster to put this one in production, the data array LUN goes off line.

There are three LUNS. The 1st LUN is the "Q" or quorum drive (2 disks = RAID 1+0), the 2d LUN is the "L" drive for the transaction logs (2 disks = RAID 1+0), and the 3d LUN is the "W" drive for the database data (24 disk = RAID 1+0).

I see nothing in the literature regarding how to configure Secure Path Manager for a cluster. Any assistance in this area will be most appreciated.

Thank you.
Hi Jae,

I'd go with Richard's suggestion. And the seperator is a colon, i.e.
NODENAME:CLUSTERNAME
Then it will display both nodes in the profile, each as a "clustered host" icon (3 blue boxes instead of one). Selecting a storage system and drilling down to a particular LUN/drive letter should show all available paths for both nodes. So in your case you should see 4 paths. Only one will be active - one from the node which currently "owns" the disk. If you move the corresponding cluster group to the other node, the active path in SPM should also change to reflect this.

Can you post a screenshot from Securepath Manager?

Regards,
Stephen

Hi Jae

Be sure to have good path access with one cluster node up /one down. There are a lot of documents regading Sec Path and MSCS on the Sec Path Website:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&locale=en_US&docIndexId=179911&taskId=101&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=315586

DynLoad Balancing for MSCS: (supported since SP4.0c on EVA with W2K)To enable it >>> programfiles\compaq\secpath\spdriver\w2k\sppr_on.reg. Apply this setting after a reboot in SPM.

Good Luck
Grtz Brian

Thank you both!

Now, Secure Path is recognizing in the current profile that it is a cluster. Nevertheless, perhaps one or both of you could take a look at the attached screen shot and make any suggestions that you may have on how I may improve on the configuration.

Again, I appreciate you kind assistance.

Thank you!
