According to the MSA1500 Quickspecs at http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11945_div/11945_div.pdf it supports "most 64-bit Integrity" servers. It does also support direct connections.

The supported rx servers that I could find are the rx5670, zx6000, rx2600, rx4640, and rx1600 - all using the A6826A Qlogic HBA. OS support is Red Hat Linux EL 2.1 U4 (AS, ES), Red Hat EL 3 U2 (AS, ES, WS), and SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 (SLES8)/ United Linux 1.0. There are some additional details in the attached document (see page 7 and 8)

Thanks,
Doug

Hi,

Do the integrity server rx2600 support the MSA1500 in a SAN environment? Does it support direct attach?

Thanks.

Rommel

As far as I can tell, it is not there, yet. It only has Windows 2000/2003 and some Linux support. Although it uses the same controller modules like the MSA1000 it does not even support AlphaServers.

Ah, missed that line - thanks for the update.

I think my answer is still correct, because the Integrity is supposed to run HP-UX, right?
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=647681

From the rx2600 web site (http://www.hp.com/products1/servers/integrity/entry_level/index.html), rx2600 servers support HP-UX 11i v2;Microsoft® Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 2.1 and 3; SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8; OpenVMS v8.1 Evaluation release. OpenVMS v8.2 (2H04).

But you are correct if they want to run HP-UX with MSA1500 - there is no support for it. But you could use the rx2600 with an MSA1500 if you are running Windows, Red Hat, or SuSE.

Thanks,
Do
