When installing W2k on Netserver E60 it hangs on when shows message: "Starting Windows 2000".
I have already upgraded bios to latest version (4.06.26.PN, SCSI 2.11.HP).
I tried installing from bootable CD, from hard drive, using drivers for AIC-7895 included with installation and those downloaded from Adaptec (78xx.sys).
On clean HD and on already formatted. I am installing from original MS CD - the version of Netserver Navigator I own does not support Win 2k.
All with no luck.
What else can be wrong?
HD firmware (9.1GB firmware SA40) ?

TIA
Tom Jastrzebski

Tom,

You should download and use the W2K drivers for E60 from http://www.hp.com/cposupport/servers/software/e60drvw2k.exe.html.
Press F6 during setup to load the drivers from this diskette.
Also SA40 is not a very good firmware for the harddisk. PLease upgrade it to Sa4C.
You can download Firmware, Tool and catalog file from http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpfirmware19319_swen.html.

Marco.

Is it failing to boot after the first reboot? If so, try using a 2GB partition for the OS.

I am also having this problem. I have tried using the updates suggested, but it still doesn't work. The Device Drivers are for a NetRaid card which is not installed in the system. The SCSI card is an AIC-7895.

Thanks everybody. I think I found the problem. Something I should start from ;)
This system fails on one of the tests. PCI bus mastering or something like that. Looks like rare hardware problem.
TJ
