I have to correct you, Greg.

The A5252B IS tested and certified in the Netserver Line. It has been used to connect a netserver to the Autoraid 12h, for instance.
For an example take a look at http://netserver.hp.com/docs/download.asp?file=cg_lhpro_ar.pdf to see the configuration guide of the LHPro netserver in a cluster environment, connected to the Autoraid 12h.

But I must agree that the HASS cabinet has never been tested or certified on netservers.

Marco.

I've connected up my Netserver lp1000r via the fast-wide differential SCSI
port to an external HP HASS storage enclosure diskpack (model A3312A). But
when I boot the Netserver up it doesn't "see" any of the external disks.

I've checked the cables and adjusted a few dip switches, but all to no
avail.

Any ideas gratefully received.
Hi,

just a simple check list:

1. Does every disk has an unique scsi id?
2. Did you terminate the scsi chain?
3. start by powering up the HAS cabinet.
4. Do the disk spin up when you power up the server?
if not check out this URL for more info:

http://netserver.hp.com/support/parts_service/info_service.asp?pid=lp1000r&sheet=manuals

hope this will help,

Gideon

Neil,

Are you using the onboard SCSI controller in the LP1000r?
Or a separate PCi SCSI adapter?
Is the HASS cabinet occupies with Single Ended (SE) disks or Fast-Wide Differential disks (DF).
The SE disks have a yellow label, the DF disks have a purple label.

The onboard SCSI controller in an LP1000r is Low Voltage Differential SCSI and cannot be connected to a FAst-Wide Differential Bus.
You can try the A5252B SCSI adapter if you have DF disks in the HASS cabinet.

If you??re sure that you??re using the right SCSI controller and terminator then try working with only 1 disk in the cabinet.

Hope this helps.

Marco.

Neil,

The HASS A3312A is designed for HP-UX 9000 and 3000 systems and the controller for the A3312A is also designed specifically for the HP-UX servers. The configuration that you are attempting will never be a tested or supported configuration and so you will be at your own risk. The A5252B SCSI adapter mentioned in the previous POST also will not have been tested in the NetServer line as well.

Ok,

So saying that the A5252B controller was not a tested product in the Netserver line was not specific enough because it is indeed tested in the LHPro. However it is not tested in the LP1000r which is a completely different machine than the LHPro. This link shows all tested third party cards in the LP1000r http://netserver.hp.com/support/tplist.asp?pid=LP1000r and this link shows all tested hp controllers for the current and past NetServer line http://netserver.hp.com/support/compatibility/compmatrix.asp
