hi,
As Marco explain, there is several thinks to check to avoid your hdd fail.

Once you replace the failed disk, after a few seconds, you will see all the hdd parts of the raid which stast blinking, this is a normal operation part of the rebuild process, the data will be again mirored on the new hdd, after half an hour, when finished, all the hdd of the raid will stop blinking, and will be on line with raid redundant. If the rebuild didn't succeed, the hdd you put in the raid stay in fail status. In this case, or this hdd is bad, or there is a phisical or logica error on one of the other hdd part of the raid.
bye

marino

Give your local HP responsecentre a call.
There's a service note to improve mass-storage reliability on several netservers, including the LC2000.
That invloves: harddisks, Harddisk Firmware, SCSI Cables and more.

Let them check up your server!

Marco.

If you are running Windows you can install Instant TopTools and view the HP Event Log from within the Windows NOS:
To install Instant TopTools, go to the following web site:

http://www.hp.com/toptools/download/server_agents.html

Under other hp management tools, select: Instant TopTools 5.x (Eng.)

The downloaded exe file will launch an install wizard. Install and run the program.

The STATUS tab allows you to view the HP event log. The REPORT tab captures server configuration (can see the hard drive firmware versions here). Both the Report and Event Log can be saved as a file and emailed to Netserver support at:
NetSrvTech_Support@hp.com

You can also use Instant Support at:
http://instantsupport.hp.com/motivedocs/hpinstantsupport.html
which is a live chat with a technician...
