I have an HP NetServer 5/100 LS that I have upgrade by installing the DC-DC converter P/N D3575-63002 and HP NetServer Dual 166 CPU???s Card P/N 4304-69001. I have ran ECU and verified the configuration of my hardware. While trying to install NT 4.0, I follow the posted instructions on HP's website and skip hardware detection and install the drivers made from the Navigator CD (ver. S.02.05). Everything appears fine until the reboot after I am told to remove the floppies/boot CD when I get a BSOD whit the following error message:

STOP: 0x0000000A (0x00000008,0x000000FF,0x00000000,0x8011D27C)

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL*** Address 8011d27c has base at 80100000 - ntoskern.exe

If during the first phase of install, I choose MPS Uniprocessor, the in stallion complete just fine. When I try to upgrade to a MPS Multiprocessor or install with MPS Multiprocessor I receive this error. I have run the latest diagnostic from HP's site on my hardware and everything checks out fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried both CPU's individually? Also try to install NT with the multiprocessor kernal even with just a single cpu installed and see if there is a difference. When you have both CPU's installed do you see them both on POST and in the ECU? The 0x0A stop code is also usually driver related so make sure you are at base config, install with the loopback adapter and boot into NT in VGA mode to help troubleshoot. Also possibly look at recreating the three floppies for NT off the NT 4.0 Server CD and recreating the driver diskettes as well incase there was something wrong with one of your drivers.

Dewayne,

Check the MPS setting in the EISA Configuration of the netserver.
- Boot from ECU floppy or navigator CD and enter EISA configuration utility.
Select View or Edit Details and check the MPS setting.
It must be 1.4, if it's 1.1: change it to 1.4, save and exit and reboot the server.
You'll need to reinstall the OS.
