Emmett,

You need the LX Pro ECU as this is an Eisa based machine. http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swindex.pl?p=nslxep&l=en&c=BIOS I would definately Clear CMOS and then boot to the ECU disk to view the settings. I would also physically compare the CPU's on that LXpro as you want to have CPU's with matching cache but have the 256 in the primary slot. Without an LXpro to look at off the top of my head I think it is either switch 4 or is a jumper to clear CMOS. They are usually located near the system battery.

Hello, I am new to the HP Server. I recently bought one aat an auction. The bios was behind so I tried to flash it. Now I get an error 0215: Processor Cache Mismatch. Any idea how to correct this?? Nothing I have read has come close. All I got was the server, no Navigator CD.

Emmett,

Which Netserver did you purchase? Are you trying to flash the BIOS from a navigator CD or from the Web? Are you getting the error on POST as well or just when you try to flash the BIOS? If you are trying to flash from the navigator CD that came with the server I would recommend flashing the BIOS from the Web as you probably won't have the latest Navigator CD if you purchased a used server. You can find the files for all of the NetServers from http://netserver.hp.com/support/drivers_software/drivers.asp

Before you flash the BIOS make sure that you clear the CMOS, you'll have to confirm which switch it is as it varies on Netservers, but it is normally switch 5 on most NetServers. Then after you clear the CMOS, boot into F2 to save and exit because you will have an incorrect system configuration message after clearing the CMOS. Then flash the bios from the web. If you are still getting that error 0215: processor mismatch, do you have multiple CPU's? Check for steppings and if possible flash the bios with only a single CPU installed, no PCI cards and base memory.

Sorry I did no provide enough info. I have an lx-pro with dual 200 and 128 meg of RAM. The machine originally booted ok, but I started to receive the message after I flased the BIOS. I did this from the web-download. I did vverify that the bios is showing as correct on the LCD display. During the post, the two processors are shown with two different cache amounts, 512 and 256. Does the F2 work on LX PROS? I tried this and it dod not work.

Just to let you know. I pulled the cpu card and the processors DO NOT have the same cache. Processor one is 512 while processor two is 256. Is this fixasble without replacement?

Since you have a mismatch in processor caches try having the smallest cache in the primary CPU slot and attempting the BIOS flash and clearing CMOS. Definately recommended to have matching Cache's however. Do you have a CPU terminator to run single CPU with the 512 cache cpu?

No, I had thought of that and realized that I do not have a terminator. New Problem. Now the machine does nothing. No video, no beeps, and nothing in the LCD display. Any Ideas?

If you pulled the remote assistant card the server will not power on unless you put the jumper on the front panel where the red set of pins are. You'll also get Zero power to the LXpro series if that card is dead. Since you were functioning that is at least a sign that that card is functioning. That server will also not power on without the top on it.
