I have over 500 NetServers located in various cabinets on the server floor. Does anyone know of a software package that can be used to show quickly where a computer is located on the floor and in the cabinet? I need a way for my 24x7 operations personnel to quickly locate a machine on the floor..... Thanks
We had a guy that did some scripting with excel. He had a 'picture' of the florr, with buttons to the racks. You click on a button, and you go to a 'picture' of the rack with the servers listed.

You could also use visio to do the same thing, but with better looking graphics.

John

Jim,

I did the same thing by doing the drawings of the computer room in visio and creating a web site for it, with not only where the server was located, but also the location within the cabinet and the wiring of the server. Add some digital pictures, and bang you got everything.

live free or die
harry
