Patrick,

How much memory do you have in the server and do you have a terminator for the CPU to take it to base CPU's?

First try booting the server with a single Dimm if you have more than one. If you only have one dimm try a different Dimm slot. If you still get the 0004M failure then take the server to single cpu/vrm in the primary slot and repeat the test one by one. If you get the same errors with only a single CPU/VRM and single Dimm with multiple CPU's and dimms the error is on the system board and it will need to be replaced.

Ciao,
Greg

Spec - Dual PIII 500, 1Ghz RAM, AMI MegaRaid card - 4 x scsi2 9.1gb Disks. When server boots reports 0004 Extended RAM - No beep codes, checks scsi cards and logical drives and hangs. Pressing F2 report 'Entering Setup' but BIOS cannot be entered. Tried swapping memory, and clearing bios of default. Still mis-reports RAM - RAM worked fine prior to reboot ! Any ideas ?

Patrick

Remove that Megaraid card. Clear CMOS by flipping switch 5 to ON, Power the server and boot to the configuration has been cleared message. Then Power off and switch 5 back to Off and reboot the server. Then flash the bios from diskette with the latest bios from: http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix45937.html

If this resolves the error it is the megaraid card which is untested and unsupported in the E60. Try a netraid 1si instead.

Ciao,
Greg

Greg

Thanks for the quick responce, but this doesn't work I'm afraid. Server has been using MegaRaid card for 6 months - ok. With card removed, and CMOS cleared and updated, still reports 0004M Extended RAM - Any other ideas ? - Thanks in advance.
