You can download the upgraded ECU and BIOS from here:

http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50439.html

Download the exe files to the hard drive, then run the exe. It will prompt you for a floppy diskette. Just follow the steps. The diskette will be bootable. Just boot off it and follow the prompts.

I have a Netserver LC that no longer boots it's navigator CD. It was just fine until I attempted to upgrade the bios. Afterward, it now no longer boots to the Navigator CD... (all else is just fine with the CD, floppy, HD, O/S etc.) How can I get the Navigator to boot so I can attempt ECU and BIOS upgrade pair?

mfaulds,

Go to this link: http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50439.html if you have the NetServer LC and create both your BIOS Flash G.01.00 and the LC ECU diskette v G.00.10 so that you can boot into the ECU and confirm settings, save and exit. Hopefully this helps.

Ciao,
Greg

The ECU and BIOS floppys do NOT fix. The ECU gives white start screen with blue border as expected after booting but gives no prompts and hangs the box. The BIOS disk errors out with "not correct files..."

Hmmmm....
Try and clear the CMOS. Look for the syste mswitches on the system board. With the server off, flip switch 3 to the off position. boot the server, at the end of post, power down the system, place the switch back in the on position. boot the server and go in to the ECU. Here is a link to a view of the system board:

http://netserver.hp.com/support/parts_service/system_board/sys_board_tpl.asp?pid=LC

Most times when a BIOS flash does not complete, it destroys the eprom on the system.

Well, I "reset" the CMOS by pin 3 and even unplugged the battery. Same problem. Here is what I think we have here: There is an instruction in the BIOS EPROM that says boot from the CD if you can find the Navigator CD. Since this never happens something must be wrong with the FLASH CHIP (BIOS EPROM). Why the floppy disks don't work, is a mystery too. The BIOS floppy just complains and the ECM locks the PC. I'm thinking the BIOS chip is just plain dazed and comfuzed and doesn't know what to do anymore. Anybody got a chip I can substitute... I promise I'll give it back...

You can try and find one at www.pmount.com They distribute old HP hardware for their servers. Phone number: 512-263-7010

I don't think they would be very expensive, but finding one might be.
