topic Adding additional SCSI disks to NetServer E60 in Netservers

I'm wanting to increase the disk capacity of our NetServer E60, most likely by adding a second disk. The exact model we're using is a D7148-60200 (PIII 500mhz, w/512MB RAM & 18 GB SCSI HD).

The E60 datasheet says that I can add a HP D7176A (18GB Ultra/Wide SCSI 7200rpm). I'm interested in knowing if:
1. This part is still available;
2. There is a larger HD upgrade available... say ~32GB; and
3. If an alternative larger/faster drive is available are there any compatibility concerns with my existing smaller/slower drive.

Thanks!
Scott

PS. Just as a little background the following page (http://netserver.hp.com/support/hot_news/lpn12852.asp) seems to suggest that HP is replacing defective D7176 drives with P1167 models. The following page (http://netserver.hp.com/support/hot_news/lpn10317.asp) shows that the P1167 model is in fact a Seagate Ultra3/Ultra 9/18GB 10Krpm drive. Will this drive work in my E60 system? and does HP sell them or do I need to go to Seagate directly?
Scott,

The D7176A drive is no longer available from HP although you can probably find them out on E-Bay. The newer P1167A hdd is a SCSI3 hdd which is not tested or supported on the E-60. SCSI2 and SCSI 3 are supposed to be cross compatable but run at the slowest speed. There could be problems with not having twisted pair cable in the server for the P1167A hdd as well. It should work but the best recommendation would be to track down a D7176A hdd. http://www.pmount.com is another good spot to pick up hp hardware on discontinued items.

Ciao,
Greg
