hello,
really need help with this issue.
i have purchased new lt6000r server. originaly it has been installed with xeon 700/1Mb. been taken out and replaced with xeon 550.
i have located dip switch on mother board and changed cpu speed from 700 to 550 on it.
now i have weird error where system start to boot and stops at the line after processor initialisation sting. last message in error log is:
"VRM Bd voltage 1/4".
i have tried to change VRM's or processors ( 6 to play with), but can not identify the issue.
i have found information on HP support site, that:

...Goals
HP Netservers - Erroneous Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) Errors:
Over or Under-Voltage

Fix
Solution ID# IS7075

ISSUE

The SEL may erroneously report the VRM as being over or
under-voltage. This condition has been seen only on the HP Netserver LH6000/r...
CAUSE

Due to inherent noise in the system, the CMC reports an
over/under-voltage failure in the SEL rather than a noisy system. In summary,
the old CMC firmware erroneously reports the VRM to be out of range.

SOLUTION

New CPU Management Control (CMC) firmware A.10.39 resolves the
erroneous reporting of the VRM being out of specs. The new CMC firmware has been
incorporated into Navigator CD M.04.00 and it is currently available as part of
the BIOS download on the HP website.

I can not flash the bios though, since i have flasing red light and system just does not boot.

ive tried with second and third LT6000 i have and getting exactly the same sort of issues.
Obviously, this backward compatibility to XEON 550 issue, although, there is 550 option on dip switch.
Is anyone aware of such a problem?
How can i fix this (no, i'm not going to purchase XEONs 700).
Any information would be appreciated. Help !!!

please contact me at info@compulabs.dhs.org if you can help me in this situation any how.
Regards.

Alexander.

Processor board D9143-63003 will support both 550 MHz Tanner and 700 MHzCascade processors.

Processor board D9190-63001 will only support 700 MHz Cascade processors.

Check the part number on your Processor board.

Thank alot for your help.
You have been very helpfull indeed.
Would you know by any chance, if it's possible to modify processor board D9190-6001 back to D9143-69003. i do not care about warranty. i have 10 (ten) LT6000r boxes with D9190-6001 and i'd rather modify existing boards. otherwise i have to pay USD $400.00 per replacemant board.
Let me know if You can help me out with board modification.

you can contact me at: info@compulabs.dhs.org with your ideas or quotations.
