People have done it successfully but it was never tested or supported by HP.

I believe video will also be an issue for you:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x746942308663d611abdb0090277a778c,00.html

Ciao,
Greg

Tom,

There are several things that you should try first off.
First of which would be to find a SCSI CD-ROM drive as that was the only CD-ROM supported on the LHPro. You probably could find them on e-bay or from a local computer reseller for not too much $$$.
Next I would unplug the server,
Open the server and Clear the CMOS by flipping switch 3 to the Off position. Then power the server on until you get the message that the CMOS has been cleared.
Then power the server back off, unplug and flip switch 3 Config Valid back to the ON position.
Then download the BIOS flash and ECU for the LH Pro, boot to the ECU to save and exit and then flash the BIOS.

You can get both of those files to create the boot diskettes here: http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50454.html

For your hard drives pull all of them out of the server a couple of inches and boot the server one by one to confirm the functionality of the harddrives.

Also what is the drive cage cabled to?
Final thing to make sure of on the LHPro is to make sure that NO PCI cards are in slot 8 as that shares with the embedded SCSI.

Ciao,
Greg

First of all where is the switch 3 you refer
to....I have no documents.
When you say boot up the server with the drives out.....should I insert
one at a time.....or insert one and reboot...???? Any and all help would
be appreciated

Tom,

I put the same answers in your new post as well.. since it was updated first.

The set of system switches is right above where the CPU processor board is. Its a bank of 8 switches.

As for the hard drives I would first boot the server with no hard drives installed and see if you get any error messages.

I would also inventory your PCI/EISA cards in the server and post their part numbers and remove any NON-HP cards until you get the server operational.

Ciao,
Greg

Tom,

You are making progress.. You have a NetRaid Controller installed. If all drives are out of the server, boot into Ctrl-M and I'm assuming that you will be doing a fresh install so in Ctrl-M go to Configure and then Clear Configuration on the controller.
Next boot up with your hard drives back in the server and make sure that all drives can be seen in Ctrl-M --> You will still have an NVram/Disk mismatch so clear the config again and then go to Objects -> physical drives and make sure all hard drives are responding.

If all hard drives are responding then you can create a new array and be prepared to start an install.

To configure a new array you go to the configure-> new configuration.
Then space bar through the hard drives until they are flashing,
once all hard drives are selected then hit enter to end the array and F10 to configure
Usually accept default configuration and hit enter on accept, then hit enter another time and you'll be prompted to save. Then from the main menu you'll need to initialize the array. Select initialize, then hit spacebar on LD0 and F10 to initialize. Then you'll be ready to start an install of your NOS>

Ciao,
Greg

Tom,

If you can't see a difference between the two then save either configuration. You'll get the option to save the config when you hit esc.

Are you trying to use the NOS that is already on the server or are you installing fresh?

Greg

Tom,

What NOS are you going to install? If it is NT or 2000 there are some special things you need to know. But you will need to make the HP drivers and do a manual floppy install for NT and most likely 2000 as well.

Good luck,
Greg

Tom,

Its been a while since we've gone over this so I'm not sure what has changed with your config yet. First of all if you can access your hard drives and work in Ctrl-M with your hard drives and configure arrays without any config errors then the Navigator CD issue may be with the Nav itself. What version of NAV CD do you have?

In terms of the Install hanging. Where does it hang? How far does it get? Are you still installing 2000? Do you have a copy of NT 4.0 to install as a test since NT 4.0 was supported and 2000 is not supported on the original NetRaid card that I believe you have?

Also what version of FW is your netraid card at?

Thanks,
Greg
