LPR CPU Upgrade issues

I have an LPR, running a BIOS version of 40634... I upgraded the processor to a PIII 866, and the system reports it as a 650... any thoughts on why this might be happening? Thanks!

hi, if i remember correctly, there is two syatem boards for the LPR servers. One takes upto 600mhz and one above 650mhz processors. To upgrade higher than 650 you need a system board aswell. You obviously have the earlier rev board and originally had a lower than 600mhz proc. The VRM needs replacing with a 8.4volt one instead of the 8.3volt one as standard in the lower systems aswell.
Was it a proper HP upgrade you purchased, There was a data sheet in with them originally explaining the details.

Im confused by this.

What version of motherboard do I have in all (12) LPR's if there are dip switches that CLEARLY state support from 500-800MHz?

Are the 800MHz CPUS that I bought useless?

No - they are not genuine HP as there is no more support for these.

One clarification...
I didnt mean to say there was no support for the HP CPUS.... just that we had access to regular ones in lieu of spending 750 to buy it thru ummm... well... I think Im going to dig a hole by saying this... so I'll just stop short. :-)
