hi
the only choise, is the NVram because on the disk , the logical drive is gone, in fact the disk is seen as ready that means not configured, in th NVram config, you can see the hdd in a failed status with a logical drive configured. as the drive is alone, and raid 0, you could then (when config is saved) force it in a on-line status.
Just a question, I never see this sort of situation, usualy on the disk the original config remain and on the NVram it gone, did you even change the hdd with an empty one?)
marino

Hi.

By the info provided I'd say use the NVRAM configuration as the Disk config says size None. I'd save and use this one... but I hope you do have your backups in order.

HTH,
TAL

If you have only one hard drive in a RAID array then this must be RAID 0, which has no fault tolerance. A REBUILD is not an option. The only thing to try is to re-create the RAID array exactly as it was, without Initializing.
If you have any questions on this contact HP for support:
(970) 635-1000, option 1, 1, then 2. Or use Instant Support Active Chat at:

http://instantsupport.hp.com/motivedocs/hpinstantsupport.html

Hi Meloni.

How to force the disk to online state.

Hi all,

I tried to ask the Asia Pacific HP based in Singapore. He said

"In this situation, you can choose the option from "Disk" as it shows you the HDD information.
Do not save the configuration from NVRAM as it showing the "FAIL" HDD.

Please choose view from "DISK" and save the configuration, then reboot and the server will be able to boot again unless the HDD fails then you might not be able to bootup."

Is it true what he said? If I do what he suggested, do I need to reinstall my OS?

The Disk Config (which is the NetRAID array information stored on the hard drive itself) is reporting the drive as READY. A status of READY means the drive is not seen as part of a RAID array. Consequently it will not help to save the Disk Config. If a hard drive is connected to a NetRAID controller and the status of the drive is seen as READY, the drive must be configured into a valid RAID array before it can be used.
You can try to force the drive online, but in a RAID 0 this is typically not an option.
1. Save the NVRAM configuration. The hard drive should now be reported as FAILED.
2. Select the drive (if it will let you) and make it Online.
3. If this fails, delete the existing RAID array and re-create it WITHOUT Initializing. Initializing will erase the hard drive.
