When you boot from a w2k CDROM, it starts 'normally', but when you start from a linux CDROM, it makes the CD the A: drive. This seems OK undr RedHat 7.3 and Mandrake 8.x, but causes Mandrake 9(the first linux disk I tried) to report fatally corrupted BIOS!

Still can't get it to boot from floppy, even new flopy drive and cable. Recognises floppy drive at boot, tries to boot fro floppy, green LED comes on and just hangs at this point.

Can't find anywhere in BIOS/setup to specify boot from floppy drive....

Just got an old Netserver LH II. Will boot off system partition with F12 or HP CD, even an IDE HDD if you setup the parameters in the EISA config setup.
Problem is, it won't boot from any known bootable floppies , and if I boot to dos system partition, it won't recognise the A: drive, even though I was able to update BIOS from files on floppy after running CD util.

Trying to install Linux, but very difficult with no standard CD booting or floppy drive.
Argh!

Andy,
check floppy cables if seated securely and attached correctly. Then try another floppy drive (I guess you have one :o)) If you feel this is not hw problem dig into setup/ECU
Good luck!
Eugeny

I am not trying to be insulting, but do you have the cable in correctly (stripe on pin 1)?
