Hi again...

I have done, I and now I can see the ATAPI CD-ROM: HITACHI CDR-8435-(PM) in the boot messages, but the CD don??t work. It doesn't read anything (original & Copy CD) in NT, and it doesn't happen anything in the boot secuence.

I think if the CD was broken at least the system would try to load... but it's very strange, two machines, two CD's broken... the same problem... I am desperate.

thanks.

Hi,

I've two LC2000R with NT4 Server preinstalled. I want to install w2K but the unit don't read any disc. I can't boot from CD, or if I boot from W2k boot disks when the installation needs to load from CD the process stop becouse the machine don't see the CD.
The bios is update and I can see the CD in the NT (it works - but don`t read anything). I don't know how can I do.

Thanks in advanced.

Miguel,

If you can see the CD-ROM in NT then the CD-ROM is functional. What CD's have you tried to boot to? Are they original MS CD's or are they burned copies? Also have you tried to clear CMOS and restore defaults in the BIOS? By default the server will boot CD,Floppy then hdd but someone may have changed the boot order in BIOS.

Clear CMOS with switch 5 on system board. Power server off, then flip 5 to the on position, power server on-> then when server says it is cleared power back off and put 5 back to the off position. Then boot to F2 bios setup and F10 to save and exit.

That should resolve your issue.

Greg

Hi Miguel,
To install win2k on LC200:

1. The LC2000 servers usually have HP Navigator CDs. If you have the navigator CD boot with it and use it to make WIN2k drivers on a floppy disk. When you boot from the WIN2k CD, use the floppy to install additional SCSI drivers to enable to installation to see the HDD. After that the installation should proceed smoothly.

2. Upgrade the NT4 installations to WIN2k.

Gbenu

Miguel,

It sounds like you have a CD-R/RW in your server. Put the original CD-ROM back in the server or try just a stanadard CD-ROM as HP has never supported CD Writers in the NetServers that I'm aware of.

Ciao,
Greg

Hi Miguel,

I'm having troubles to upgrade a LC2000 to Windows 2000. After running the setup in the NT, when the system reboots I get a blue screen with INACESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. Did you had this problem?

Thanks
