If it is the top LED that is red blinking status, you have got your Event log full. To clear this log, Use Instant Top Tools. Once the system event log is cleared, you will see Green LED.

Here are the steps to clear the hardware system event log.

Open Instant TopTools,
select the Status Tab, in Left Pane,
Go to System Management Section, Select SYSTEM EVENTS.
On the Right pane, You can click on the CLEAR EVENT LOG button. You can also the save the log if you need to.

I am afraid the other person who responded to this message is incorrect.

The status LED on the LH6000 is basically a Stop-light: top LED is RED, center LED is yellow, bottom LED is green.

If the Red LED is lit, it means there is a critical error that demands immediate attention. This could be as innocuous as warning to put the server's covers back on or that the Event Log is full (I think that gives a red LED), or it could be something as serious as CPU overheating or a fan failure.

If the yellow LED is lit, then it's an informational message or a warning about something that needs attention but isn't critical. This could be caused by a fan slow-down or a disk full warning.

If the green LED is lit: all is well.

The only way to confirm what may be causing the warning LED to be lit is to check the Hardware Event Log to see what is causing the problem. You can do this in a number of ways.

One, run either Instant Top Tools, Tops Tools for Servers or Local Top Tools to see the System Event Log.

Two, you can boot to the Navigator CD that came with your server (or a newer version if you have one available) to view the System Event Log.

Three, if you have it installed, you can boot to the Utility Partition by pressing F12 during POST. You can access the Event Viewer.

Instant Top Tools (ITT) is the easiest way to view the Event Log. You can download ITT at:
http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50451en_US.html#Utility

For the download for your operating system, click on the link for the category "Utility - HP Instant Toptools" at the top of the downloads page.

Good luck,

Alicia
