topic LC3 not accepting Windows 2000 in Netservers

After flashing the bios, as well as the bios for the raid card, the LC3 will begin the setup process, copy all the files it needs from the cd, and then it reboots. On the reboot, it stops just before the Windows 2000 Advanced Server splash screen and reboots itself. I double checked the bios versions, replaced the processors, memory, and edven swapped out the drive cables and drives.

John,

a LC3 W2K combination should run fine, i have one running.

- what other I/O cards do you have installed
besides the raid card. Remove all that is
not necessary to have a minimum config
(including a eventual second
processor and go to a minimum of memory
modules if more then one is used here)

- did this server ran some other OS before
i.e. NT4 or Netware, what if you install NT4
does it run succesfull ? or shows the same
issue or use another W2K OS cdrom.

- did you tried connecting the disks to the
internal Adaptec controller (this way you
eliminate the RAID card as suspected
component)

- did you checked if the hardware log contains
any entries that indicate a H/W problem ?
If you have a TopTools Remote Control Card
it is easy, if you don't then you need to
log in to the IRA (Integrated Management
Port) and read the SEL (System Event Log)
from their. You just need a serial cable to
to this. You can look how to do this in the
manual :

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn11724/lpn11724.pdf
on page 56.

or a initial summary :

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=tis02190

HTH

Kris
