Which NetServer model do you have ? Some models require that pairs or even 4 modules are installed.

I've had Kingston memory in an old LM/2 and it worked well.

But please note that HP service will not cover problems with 3rd party memory.

I have a Netserver that currently has 512 RAM. I need to upgrade it with more memory. I bought a Kinston 512 stick to install, based upon the recommendation form Tech Data. The server does not boot no matter what the configuration. My question is, do I need to have all slots filler with RAM for it work properly, or the Kingston RAM cannot work in the Netserver.

Bart,

Does the server POST with the Kingston memory removed and the HP original memory installed? If it doesn't you might have a corrupt Bios. Try to clear the CMOS with NO memory in the server. Pull all memory and with switch 5 in the ON position power the server on. You should get a 1-3-3-1 beep code. Then power off the server and add the HP memory back in. Then set the switch 5 switch back to the off position, boot to F2 and then hit F10 to save and exit.

Also what model server do you have and what are the specs of the Kingston memory? I have seen on some netservers that if you have HP and third party memory installed at the same time, the 3rd party memory won't be detected

Ciao,
Greg
