topic How to Change Boot Path in Netservers

After 4 nights working I finally got to know how to set logical drives and set up hp netserver lx pro to which I real intention is to install linux.

I used installation disketts (seems the only way) to get NT loaded, I got the error messages: can't find boot disk... change the boot path. I remember seeing the question and solution before on this forum. However I could not find it. Can some of you gurus explain why this happen and how to fix with detailed steps.

What is worse now is that in trying to fix by groping, I changed the boot device to lun number 0. The system is now even not able to boot from dianostic assistant disk and navigator cd-rom, stopped at starting DOS... What I can do now?

Thanks in advance

Do you have the NT drivers from HP's web site?

NT tries very hard to correctly detect your hard drive controller during installation, but the problem is that NT was created long before most PCs were made (the LX Pro included). So, you have to tell NT what SCSI or RAID controllers you have during installation and the only effective way of doing that is to create the NT boot floppies, but you apparently have done that.

During installation, you will be prompted to specify RAID or SCSI drivers or to allow NT to search for drivers:
--Press "S" to specify drivers
--Insert driver diskette in floppy drive
--press "S" again to select from a list
--then select the LX Pro SCSI or HP RAID driver
--since you have elected to specify drivers, you must not forget to specify CD-rom driver as well... does the LX Pro have a SCSI or IDE CD-rom? I can't remember
--anyway, if it has an IDE CD-ROM, press S and then S again and scroll up in list to select ATAPI CD-ROM driver (if it is SCSI, select SCSI driver if you haven't already done so)

Page to download drivers for LX Pro:
http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50460en_US.html

Good luck,

Alicia
