Okay,

Do you have any other PCI or EISA slots in the server? I would try removing them all just for troubleshooitng purposes and see if it will recognize the NIC all by it's lonesome.

Also, I think you mentiones it but I wanted to confirm: Did you say that this PARTICULAR NIC card works fine in other servers or is it possible that the NIC is bad?

Keep me posted.
My company which im working at has 4 HP Netserver LH Pro. The PCI NIC we are using is 3com 3c905-tx. The PCI NIC works fine on other PCs but not on the Netserver LH Pro.
ECU could not recognized the PCI NIC. I have tried inserting on various PCI slot but still unavail to solved the problem. May i know what might be the problem for this situation?
Thanks in advance

That NIC card is supported for the LH Pro.
What operating sytem are you using? Have you tried installing the driver yet? Does the OS see the NIC card? Do you get any POST error messages?

the os on that machine is windows nt 4. I tried loaded the driver but still unavailable to solve the problem. I found out that only this one particular 1 HP Netserver LH PRO is unable to detect the PCI NIC and other LH PRO works fine....what could be the problem? other LH PRO could detect PCI NIC + PCI bridge but this particular one LH PRO could not detect it. This LH PRO always show up System Error after POST. I tried reseting the CMOS but still the problem occurs.

thanks for replying......

Hi,

Before I continue, is the NIC in PCI slot 6? That is the preferred slot for this server. If not, try it in that slot first, then try the following:

For troubleshooting, here would be my first steps:
1) For now, remove the NIC.
2) Download the latest BIOS AND the latest ECU from HP.COM support and drivers.
3) Flash to the latest BIOS.
4) Go back into the (with the new disk!) ECU and be sure all your settings are as they should be.
5) Reinstall the NIC card and try installing it again.

Even if your BIOS is curren, it is a good idea to flash it again. Sometimes the BIOS can corrupt. Let me know if this works for you!

Mark

i tried putting the PIC NIC on varios slots, even the 6th PCI slot but still did solve the porblem. I tried reflash the CMOS couple of time with the lastest BIOS downloaded from HP site but still have no positive effect. i have follow the 5 steps that u have mentioned but still did get it work.

thanks for replying..
