topic LPr and memory in Netservers

Hi friends
I have a LPr and i have 832MB of memory in four slots(0:64, 1:256, 2:256 and 3:256). I would like to put one dimm of memory of 1GB but the server didn´t respond with it. I probe to put only this module of 1GB and the server didn´t start. This server accepts the modules of 1GB of memory??? Another question, there isn´t a limit of memory for the pentium II

Jordi

"
HP NetServer Lpr memory upgrade guidelines:

System memory

The HP NetServer LPr server's main memory is implemented with 5 V SDRAM DIMMs (Dual In-Line Memory Modules). The HP NetServer LPr ships with at least 64 MB of main memory and supports up to 1 GB. Memory is available in the following DIMM capacities: 64, 128, and 256 MB.
There are four DIMM sockets on the system board. DIMMs may be installed in any combination in any socket. However, we recommend starting at socket 0 and filling the sockets in numerical order: 1, 2, and 3.

"

HTH

Phillip

As Phillip said, the server only accepts RAM up to 256MB in size.

The RAM sticks it accepts are as follows
(from the Data Sheet for the LPr located at: http://h200007.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpn11466/lpn11466.pdf):

64MB PN: D6097A
128MB PN: D6098A
256MB PN: D6099A

Which are 100MHz ECC SDRAM DIMMs.

With your current configuration, you can only upgrade RAM slot 0 from 64MB to 256MB, which would give you a total of 1GB RAM (4 x 256MB).

HP still carries this RAM, or you can probably get it from an HP reseller for much less. Try a search on http://www.google.com or on http://www.pricewatch.com for the part number, D6099A, and you will find a lot of "hits" of online vendors that carry that memory for considerably less than HP.

good luck,

Alicia
