topic Netserver LX Pro - Continuous Beeping in Netservers

I have a Netserver LX Pro server that is approximately six years old. The server is up and running and everything appears to be functioning properly. For the past five days the server has been sending out a continuous beeping sound, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. The beeping sound is going off while the server is up and running. There is nothing stuck on the keyboard, and as I stated the server is up and running. I did shut the server completely off to see if the beeping would stop. As soon as the server turns back up, the beeping starts and continues to beep. Does anyone have any ideas why the server is beeping.

Nancy,

Does the beeping start as soon as the server is powered on or is it while it is still going through the post around where the netraid card is initializing? I would guess that you have a hard drive that is failing. Boot into ctrl-M on Post, go into objects and physical hdds and check to see your hard drive status.

If it happens immediately at poweron, Try to clear your CMOS and flash your bios to see if that resolves it. Otherwise it could be your system board.

Ciao,
Greg

I also agree with precious poster. If no error codes are on the LCD display, I think that one of the installed disk arrays is missing a member. Then the RAID controller goes insane. It is a very annoying sound, isn't it? ;) It can only be stopped by entering the setup utility with ctrl-m and checking the drive status and clearing the error. Goodluck!
